Job Title: Environmental Field Technician

We are seeking an experienced Environmental Field Technician to join our team in the Greater Toronto Area. As a key member of our Site Assessment and Remediation team, you will be responsible for conducting field work related to monitoring, investigating, remediating, and reclaiming contaminated sites.



The Opportunity

As an Environmental Field Technician, you will have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects, including groundwater monitoring, soil sampling, and remedial excavations. You will be responsible for preparing and adhering to site-specific health and safety plans, identifying and reporting potential and existing site hazards, and maintaining excellent field notes.



Responsibilities

  • Conduct field work related to monitoring, investigating, remediating, and reclaiming contaminated sites
  • Prepare and adhere to site-specific health and safety plans
  • Identify and report potential and existing site hazards
  • Maintain excellent field notes and collect and handle soil and groundwater samples
  • Carry out fieldwork under the direction of more experienced scientists and technical employees
  • Supervise subcontractors for ground disturbance and utility location, surveying, borehole drilling, groundwater monitoring well installation, and test pit excavation
  • Oversee remedial contractors including directing remedial excavations, waste tracking, and progress reporting
  • Prepare and coordinate project documentation, subcontractors, and equipment for field programs
  • Filing and managing all project-related field notes including some data entry and assistance with report preparation


Requirements

  • Technical diploma or Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g. environmental sciences, environmental technology)
  • Previous experience with soil and groundwater sampling is an asset
  • Strong awareness of health and safety issues and a safety-conscious attitude
  • An Ontario Driver's License and access to a reliable vehicle
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and strong verbal and written communication in English are essential
