Job Description

This role will focus on solid waste management policy, organics processing, planning, approvals, waste diversion programs, zero waste strategies, material flow studies, feasibility analysis, and circular economy initiatives. Key responsibilities include:

  • Conducting policy research to inform project decisions
  • Leading proposal writing for new projects and collaborations
  • Assisting project teams with Approval and Permit applications
  • Coordinating Open Houses for public consultation and engagement
  • Reviewing sub-consultant reports and cross-referencing them to policy and legislation guidelines
  • Managing solid waste projects related to waste management policy, organics processing, planning, approvals, waste diversion programs, zero waste, and single-use item reduction strategies
  • Providing technical contributions to solid waste master plans and strategies
  • Developing and participating in public consultation programs and creating public-facing content
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you'll need:

  • A post-secondary education in environmental planning, environmental policy, waste management planning, environmental science, or a related field
  • 5-7 years of experience in the waste management industry, with a focus on policy development and implementation
  • Fluency with MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Project, PowerPoint)
  • Familiarity with Provincial and Federal Policy and Legislation
  • Experience working with First Nations in the waste sector would be an asset
  • A valid driver's license and access to a vehicle

Estimated Salary Range: $80,000 - $110,000 per year
