Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Personal Support Worker to join our team at Groves Memorial Community Hospital. As a Personal Support Worker, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional care to our patients, working collaboratively with our interdisciplinary team to deliver high-quality patient outcomes.

Responsibilities
  • Provide personal care to patients, including preventative skin care, hygiene, grooming, and dressing, nutrition, and elimination and toileting.
  • Assist patients with basic personal care needs, such as bathing, dressing, and grooming.
  • Observe, assess, and report changes in patients' behaviors and activities.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team environment and assist with special needs of patients.
  • Escort patients into diagnostic tests as needed and collect and monitor patient information.
  • Take patients' height and weight and document care given accordingly.
  • Maintain a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors and adhere to hospital infection control measures.
Qualifications
  • Successful completion of an approved Personal Support Worker (PSW) Diploma/Certification from a recognized program.
  • CPR certificate at the Heart Saver Level and Standard First Aid.
  • Previous experience in assisting patients with basic personal care needed.
  • Minimum of one to two years of related experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
  • Responsible, energetic individual with above-average ability to prioritize and organize in a busy environment.
  • Knowledgeable regarding the scope of practice for various job categories.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams, patients, families, and the general public.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to follow through with requests.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a team environment.
  • Capable of working independently and able to take direction.
  • Knowledge of principles of medical asepsis and universal precautions.
  • Demonstrated positive relationships with other healthcare professionals and able to contribute to the development of an environment conducive to excellent patient care.
  • Willing to work flexible hours.
Additional Qualifications
  • Satisfactory performance and attendance required.
  • Satisfactory Reference Checks required prior to start date.
  • Must provide a Police Vulnerable Sector Check.
  • Must complete a Pre-Employment Health Assessment including providing proof of full COVID Vaccination prior to being hired.
