Job Title: Educational Assistant - Level D

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Educational Assistant to join our team at the Waterloo Region District School Board. As an EA, you will play a vital role in supporting students with special needs and providing a safe and inclusive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide individualized support to students with special needs, including those with Autism Spectrum Disorder and behavioral disabilities.
  • Assist students with daily living skills, such as toileting, dressing, and feeding.
  • Implement behavior management strategies and provide positive reinforcement techniques.
  • Collaborate with teachers and other support staff to develop and implement individualized education plans.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff to ensure a smooth and successful learning experience.
Requirements:
  • Diploma or degree in a child-related field, such as Developmental Services Worker or Social Services Diploma.
  • Minimum six (6) month diploma from an accredited post-secondary institution in a child-related discipline.
  • Minimum one (1) year of related work experience, preferably directly supporting children with special needs.
  • Valid Behaviour Management Systems certification.
  • Proven ability and recent experience in working with students with special needs and behavioral disabilities.
