Job Summary

We are seeking a qualified Educational Assistant to join our team on a long-term occasional basis at the Level D level. The successful candidate will provide support to students with special needs and work collaboratively with our teaching staff to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide individualized support to students with special needs, including those with behavioral disabilities
  • Assist students with daily living skills, such as toileting, dressing, and feeding
  • Support students with academic and behavioral tasks, such as homework and classroom activities
  • Communicate effectively with teachers, parents, and other staff members to ensure a cohesive and supportive learning environment
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge in supporting students with special needs
Requirements
  • EA Diploma or equivalent college or university degree in a child-related field
  • Minimum six (6) month diploma from an accredited post-secondary institution in a child-related discipline and a minimum of one (1) year of related work experience
  • Valid Behaviour Management Systems certification
  • Proven ability and recent experience in working with students with special needs and behavioral disabilities
  • Autism Spectrum Disorder Training
  • Lifting/Positioning Training
