LTO Educational Assistant Level D

We are seeking a qualified Educational Assistant to support students with special needs in a Long-Term Occasional (LTO) capacity. The successful candidate will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, teachers, and other school staff.
Key Responsibilities- Support students with special needs in a classroom setting, providing individualized assistance as needed.
- Assist teachers with lesson planning, implementation, and assessment, as required.
- Communicate effectively with students, teachers, and other school staff to ensure a smooth and supportive learning environment.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge in supporting students with special needs.
- EA Diploma or equivalent college or university degree in a Child Related field.
- Minimum six (6) month diploma from an accredited post-secondary institution in a child-related discipline and a minimum of one (1) year of related work experience (1224 hours) preferably directly supporting children with special needs and deemed equivalent by the Board.
- Minimum six (6) month certificate from an accredited educational institution in a child-related discipline and a minimum of one (1) year of related work experience (1224 hours) preferably directly supporting children with special needs and deemed equivalent by the Board.
- Post-secondary degree/diploma from an accredited post-secondary institution that is complementary to supporting children with special needs as solely determined by the Board and a minimum of one (1) year of related work experience (1224 hours) preferably directly supporting children with special needs and deemed equivalent by the Board.
- A valid Behaviour Management Systems certification.
- Proven ability and recent experience in working with students with special needs and behavioural disabilities is strongly preferred and school-based experience.
- Autism Spectrum Disorder Training.
- Lifting/Positioning Training.
