Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Leading Economic Strategist to join our team at Royal Bank of Canada. As a key member of our Economics group, you will play a vital role in providing macroeconomic guidance to investment teams and clients.

About the Role

This is a challenging and rewarding opportunity for an experienced economist with a strong analytical mind and excellent communication skills. You will work closely with our Chief Economist and other team members to conduct research, analyze data, and develop economic forecasts. Your findings will be presented to investment teams and clients through various channels, including publications and presentations.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide intellectual leadership within the firm, conducting research into key economic themes and risks relevant to financial markets

- Stay up-to-date with key economic developments, academic research, and advances in analytic tools and data sources

- Organize and analyze economic data using software such as Macrobond, Bloomberg, EViews, Excel, and PowerPoint

- Develop and maintain quantitative models to enhance forecasting and understanding of the economy

- Contribute to the group's economic forecasting effort by synthesizing a wide range of inputs

- Communicate economic ideas effectively through written and oral presentations to investment teams and clients across various forums

Requirements

To succeed in this role, you will need:

- A Master's degree in economics or a related field

- 8-15 years of experience as a professional macroeconomist

- Strong analytical and quantitative skills, including econometrics

- A solid understanding of how the economy and capital markets interact

- An insatiable curiosity about the world and its workings

- The ability to adapt quickly and conceive multiple scenarios

- Self-motivation and the ability to work independently

- Excellent attention to detail and strong work ethic

- Strong written and verbal communication skills
