Position Summary
The Packaging Innovation team at Colgate-Palmolive serves as the scientific authority for the development of packaging materials and sustainability research. The Materials Development team is tasked with establishing packaging strategies, conducting evaluations, and recommending sustainable packaging solutions while commercializing innovative packaging technologies. We seek a polymer scientist with expertise in materials development, particularly in creating sustainable alternatives to traditional plastics and packaging.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop a robust pipeline of innovative packaging solutions focused on sustainability and environmental impact.
- Collaborate with external organizations to enhance understanding of packaging trends related to sustainability, composting, and biodegradable materials.
- Work closely with Global Procurement and Supply Chain teams to align with Colgate's sustainability objectives for the future.
- Create packaging material solutions that adhere to Colgate's sustainability goals, emphasizing reduced plastic usage and recyclability.
- Partner with Global R&D and Quality teams to analyze and resolve packaging performance issues.
- Demonstrate expertise in material and polymer science.
- Possess knowledge of various packaging technologies, focusing on non-plastic materials.
- Exhibit self-motivation and the ability to work independently in a laboratory setting.
- Utilize critical thinking and problem-solving skills to analyze data and provide recommendations.
- Have a deep understanding of material structure and performance, with hands-on experience in advanced material characterization techniques.
- Communicate effectively across the organization, translating technical details for non-technical stakeholders.
- Exhibit business acumen, understanding industry trends and competitive dynamics.
- Promote inclusive behavior that fosters a positive team culture.
Qualifications
Required: Ph.D. in polymer science, material science, chemical engineering, or related fields with a minimum of 2 years of industry experience; or a master's/bachelor's degree in science/engineering with at least 8 years of relevant experience.
Preferred: Experience in sustainable packaging innovations and non-plastic packaging materials.
