About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Distribution Planning Engineer to join our team at BC Hydro. As a key member of our planning department, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and reliable delivery of electricity to our customers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Power System Planning: Develop and maintain detailed plans for the expansion and upgrade of our electrical distribution system, including the integration of new technologies and renewable energy sources.
  • Network Optimization: Analyze and optimize our electrical distribution network to ensure maximum efficiency and reliability, while minimizing costs and environmental impact.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including engineers, operations staff, and management, to ensure that planning activities are aligned with business objectives and customer needs.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that all planning activities are in compliance with relevant regulatory requirements, including those related to safety, environmental impact, and customer service.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Experience: 5 years or more of experience in electrical distribution planning, with a strong background in power system analysis and network optimization.
  • Certifications: Registration as a Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) by a provincial or territorial association, or eligibility for registration.
