About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Distribution Planning Engineer to join our team at BC Hydro. As a key member of our planning department, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and reliable delivery of electricity to our customers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain detailed plans for electrical distribution systems, including network design, capacity analysis, and asset management.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and prioritize capital projects, ensuring alignment with business objectives and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct technical studies and analyses to inform planning decisions, including load forecasting, network modeling, and reliability assessments.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with stakeholders, including customers, contractors, and regulatory bodies.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry developments and emerging trends, applying knowledge to improve planning processes and outcomes.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in electrical distribution planning, with a strong understanding of power system operations and planning principles.
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) by a provincial or territorial association.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and develop effective solutions.
