About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Director of Care to join our team at Southbridge Care Homes. As a key member of our nursing department, you will be responsible for implementing and evaluating nursing initiatives, leading best practice and risk management initiatives, and maintaining a system of care assessment and planning.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement nursing department initiatives and functions
- Lead in the coordination and implementation of best practice and risk management initiatives related to resident care
- Effectively manage utilization of nursing supplies and maintain a system of care assessment and planning
- Mentor staff and oversee the provision of quality resident care
- Initiate investigative and corrective actions related to occupational health and safety
- Work on special projects, reviews, and other initiatives
- Assume responsibility for the nursing department
Qualifications
- Current certificate of competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Registered Nurse
- Serving heart and passion for caring for seniors
- Demonstrated experience with WSIB management and other aspects of Occupational Health and Safety
- Experience with falls and harm reduction strategies an asset
- Previous similar experience in long-term care an asset, with comprehensive knowledge of duties
- Ability to work individually and as part of a team, to prioritize tasks in order of urgency
- Excellent communication (verbal and written) and comprehension skills
- Developed creative problem-solving skills to look at the "big picture"
