Business Development Director

WSP Global Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Commercial Director to join our team. As a key member of our Commercial & Risks Management team, you will be responsible for driving commercial growth and managing commercial risks across our sectors and regions.
Key Responsibilities:- Perform bid reviews for major projects and support bid teams for escalated reviews and approvals.
- Support/participate with project teams during negotiations on major projects and lead as required.
- Monitor and support major projects' performance and strategy from a commercial standpoint, including contract notifications, contract management, interactions with clients, partners, and supply chain, change management, negotiations, claims avoidance, and preparation.
- Support projects in various areas, including establishing and implementing tools, processes, and monitoring KPIs, and supporting project teams in achieving them.
- Collaborate with other key project support functions, such as Project Delivery/Controls, Risk, Procurement, Legal, Finance, Health & Safety, etc.
- Participate in reviews of major projects and contribute to the elaboration of WSP Global Inc.'s key commercial principles/positions.
- Prepare and deploy training on commercial principles, positions, governance, and best practices.
- Act as an active contributor to the WSP Global Inc. Commercial Network and support the updating and upholding of commercial governance.
- Data analytics and reporting on bids and projects metrics.
- P.Eng., Finance, or Legal degree, or other similar relevant designation.
- 10+ years of industry experience in supporting engineering and construction projects, including opportunity selection, partnerships, proposals, contracts negotiation, project delivery, commercial management, changes management, and claims.
- Experience in a similar role with engineering/construction major projects.
- Strong experience working in multi-disciplinary teams responsible for the design of major projects, with specific experience mediating issues and facilitating discussions with key stakeholders to achieve consensus.
- Knowledge of engineering operations and projects, projects financials, projects execution, client, partner, and supply chain management, project agreements, and project documentation.
- Strong project experience working with technical, financial, legal, risk, and commercial advisors.
- Experience in risks identification, allocation, mitigation, and quantification for large, complex projects.
- Experience and understanding of partnering and various project procurement.
