About the Role

This is a unique opportunity to join our skilled and dedicated team at the Cascades District based in Merritt. As a Land and Resource Coordinator, you will work closely with our district programs, collaborate with stakeholders, and engage directly with First Nation communities. Together, we'll tackle Wildfire Rehabilitation and Flood Recovery projects funded by various initiatives.

The Key Responsibilities
  • Support fire and flood projects across the district by working closely with government staff, local stakeholders, and First Nations Communities to plan, implement, and monitor these important projects.
  • Manage contracts, coordinate equipment, and team up with engineering professionals to ensure successful project outcomes.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with senior-level stakeholders and partners, leading consultation sessions and ensuring effective communication.
  • Supervise staff, manage budgets, and administer contracts and financial resources to achieve project goals.
  • Implement provincial and regional First Nations' consultation procedures, and apply conflict and dispute resolution principles and practices to ensure successful project outcomes.
Requirements
  • Registered, or immediately eligible for registration, as a Registered Professional Forester (RPF) with Forest Professionals BC (FPBC).
  • Advanced training in project management.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience working in the natural resource sector.
  • Experience managing multiple projects or leading a component (e.g., sub-project) of a major project.
  • Experience managing relationships with senior-level stakeholders and partners and leading consultation sessions.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supervising staff.
  • Experience/knowledge in wildfire management practices.
  • Experience in budget management and contract and financial administration.
  • Experience/knowledge implementing provincial and regional First Nations' consultation procedures.
  • Experience with conflict and dispute resolution principles and practices.
