About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Land Use Planner to join our team at Huu-ay-aht First Nations. As a key member of our planning team, you will play a critical role in shaping the future of our community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Compile and analyze data on factors affecting land use, including environmental, social, and economic considerations.
  • Design and develop land use plans that balance the needs of our community with the need for sustainable development.
  • Confer with stakeholders, including community members, government agencies, and other interest groups, to develop and implement land use plans.
  • Prepare plans for environmental protection, including the conservation of natural resources and the mitigation of environmental impacts.
  • Review and evaluate proposals for land use and development plans, and provide recommendations to our leadership team.
  • Administer land use plans and zoning by-laws, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Formulate long-range objectives and policies relative to future land use and the protection of the environment.
  • Conduct research and analysis to inform land use planning decisions.
Requirements
  • College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years, or equivalent experience.
  • Provincial license or registration.
  • Driver's License.
  • Proficiency in ArcGIS, MS Project, and MS Office.
  • Experience in environmental assessment or analysis, first nations planning, resource planning, long-range planning, and residential planning.
  • Valid driver's license, own vehicle, and willingness to travel.
