Canucks Sports & Entertainment is committed to creating a diverse, inclusive, and respectful work environment. We are seeking a seasoned human resources professional to lead our People team in Vancouver.

Job Description:
As a Director of People, you will be responsible for developing and implementing human resource strategies, programs, and plans to support annual corporate business plans. You will provide operational oversight for the People team and senior-level expertise primarily in labour relations, recruitment and onboarding, immigration, training and development, performance management, employee benefits, and provide advice and guidance to management and staff on human resource matters.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement HR strategies, programs, and initiatives in areas such as recruitment and onboarding, employee experience, retention and recognition, training and development, benefits administration, and performance management.
  • Lead, mentor, and motivate employees of the People Department to foster a collaborative, high-performance/highly motivated team.
  • Investigate and resolve complex complaints submitted to the People Department, including harassment, human rights, union grievances, etc.
  • Provide advice and expertise to management on handling difficult performance issues and offer labour relations expertise to CSE managers on the application of the Collective Agreement.
  • Drive the company's internal Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives and Respectful Workplace education.
  • Oversee the management of immigration applications, ensuring utmost attention and compliance to the application process.
  • Create and strive to exceed KPIs that drive continuous improvements in all aspects of HR.
  • Collaborate with the VP, People in collective bargaining, preparation of employer proposals, and sitting on the management bargaining committee.
  • Represent the Company on labour/management committees, grievance resolution, labour arbitration cases, and other related labour relations matters.
  • Develop and deliver various training and onboarding sessions for new and existing employees.

Requirements:
  • A degree in Human Resource Management or a directly related field.
  • 10 years' progressive HR leadership experience, with at least 5 years in a senior capacity, and experience in a hospitality and/or sports & entertainment industry preferred.
  • Senior level expertise in all aspects of HR, including employee & labour relations, training & development, recruitment, immigration, benefits administration, and conducting investigations.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and implementing creative, best-in-class HR strategies and programs.
  • A strong working knowledge, experience with, and interest in using HR data and HR technologies to add value to the role.
  • Demonstrated experience successfully collaborating with Unions and extensive experience dealing with complex Union and employee relations issues.

What We Offer:
Competitive salary: $120,000 - $150,000 per year, depending on experience.
