About the Role

We are currently seeking a qualified Construction Safety Officer to join our construction team based out of Toronto, ON. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing construction assurance and compliance activities and supporting project teams to develop Safe Work Procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform construction assurance and compliance activities on assigned projects
  • Support project teams in developing and implementing Safe Work Procedures
  • Conduct formal inspections and audits to ensure compliance with OHS legislation, standards, and contract requirements
  • Provide day-to-day oversight for on-site construction work conducted by contractors to assess contractor compliance against OHS legislation and contract requirements
  • Review site activities and provide support for the protection of workers, public, infrastructure, and operations
  • Engage, coordinate, and work with Integrated Project Teams and internal/external stakeholders to provide consistent and continuous support
  • In collaboration with the Integrated Project Team, review, analyze, and outline construction activities and work areas to ensure safe and efficient delivery
  • Participate and/or support others with incident investigations, including follow-up actions to ensure implementation of identified corrective actions
Requirements

The ideal candidate will have 5-7 years' experience in heavy civil/earthwork and/or railway construction safety. They should possess a strong working knowledge of Ontario OHSA Act and Regulations, as well as proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). Experience in managing multiple tasks and priorities within timeframes is also essential. The ability to establish collaborative and effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders is critical. NCSO or other designations are preferred.

The salary for this role is estimated at $80,000-$100,000 per year, commensurate with experience. To be considered, please submit your application.
