At Alstom, we're a dynamic team working on the On-Corridor Works project in the Greater Toronto and Hamilton areas (GTHA) as part of the ONxpress consortium.

This Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Administrator position is based in Toronto and reports to the Alstom EHS Project Manager. The EHS administrator plays a crucial role in assisting local management with day-to-day administration and continuity of the Health & Safety Management System and Environmental Management System.

Key Responsibilities:

Administrative Duties

  1. Ensure an updated digital and non-digital safety information board
  2. Prepare attendance lists and meeting minutes for various meetings
  3. Prepare Joint Health & Safety Committee (JHSC) Meetings packages and minutes
  4. Support EHS training bookings, scheduling, facility arrangements
  5. Assist in the planning and development of events (safety stand down meetings, EHS campaigns) and their respective contractual requirements.
  6. Review and document control of submitted inspections, incidents, and meetings
  7. Assist in preparing various monthly KPIs, monthly reports, statistics
  8. Maintain employee training proof of training, training expiry, and training matrix
  9. Support desk and field audits
  10. Support the administration of health and safety claims
  11. Manage the EHS general inbox and inquiries
  12. Follow up and electronic archiving all EHS documents
  13. Support the EHS team in all administrative tasks where necessary

Office Health and Safety

  1. Conducting office EHS inspections (ex. First aid kits, fire extinguishers, AED, etc)
  2. Develop and maintain office risk assessments
  3. Participation in improving office ergonomics;
  4. Participation in the Project JHSC, mental health committee and other Alstom initiatives;
  5. Support the implementation of EHS management systems
  6. Develop and transmit EHS short communications, newsletters etc.
  7. Support in building/delivering training programs
  8. Occasional site visits/safety inspections for professional development/program understanding
  9. Supporting office staff in EHS matters

PPE & Safety Supply Inventory Management

  1. Support all teams in PPE and Safety Supply Inventory procurement: sourcing; placing orders; receive, store, monitor inventory; support billing; and providing PPE to workers
  2. Monitor PPE and Safety Supply Inventory for annual recertification

Competencies:

  1. Completion of formal university or college education
  2. Experience between 1-3 years in Environmental, Health and Safety
  3. Experience in Construction industry, Considered an asset
  4. Excellence in Microsoft Office Suites and agility to learn and use other software systems
  5. Knowledge of Canadian EHS legislation
  6. Ability to travel to construction sites to support EHS & site teams occasionally
  7. Developed soft skills: takes initiative and a self-starter, teamwork, people skills, oral and written communications, service-minded.
  8. Responsible and honest
  9. Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and multi-task;
