About Our Opportunity

The Government of Nova Scotia is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Film Fund Coordinator. This role is responsible for efficiently reviewing and processing claims of our film incentive programs, including the Nova Scotia Film & Television Production Incentive Fund (NSFTPIF).

Primary Accountabilities

  • Set up and send reminders to clients to submit claims to our department based on established scheduling.
  • Monitor program emails for claims applications and inquiries for response; Organize the claim package as per our internal processes and ensure order of documentation is consistent.
  • Review claim submissions for completeness and accuracy, to ensure all requirements are met.
  • Enter data into our tracking system to ensure accurate tracking of applications and claims.
  • Monitor files as they progress and ensure target dates are on track with the applicable contract.
  • Draft and evolve best practice improvements for programs.

Qualifications and Experience

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Graduation from a post-secondary institution, preferably within a finance, accounting or business-related field of study, within the last three years.
  • Familiarity with the province's film and television sector will be considered an asset.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite, presentation and spreadsheet software packages.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proficiency reading and interpreting financial statements and the general assessment of submitted financial reporting.
  • The ability to multi-task to meet priorities and constant pressure of deadline.
  • Strong organizational and analytical abilities.
  • A proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Client-focused, with strong interpersonal and communications skills (verbal and written).
  • The ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality.
  • Strong problem-solving ability to manage financial discrepancies and client inquiries.
