Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Manager, Global Variety Development to join our team at McCain Foods. This is a key leadership role that will play a critical part in driving the development and implementation of our global variety strategy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the development and implementation of our global variety strategy, working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment and effective execution.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key external partners, including potato variety breeders, universities, and institutes, to secure and develop new potato varieties.
  • Manage and maintain variety product profiles, ensuring they meet present and future strategic demand.
  • Work with global and regional teams to problem-solve and develop strategies that drive the growth and movement of new potato varieties within the McCain network.
  • Lead the execution of new variety agreements, ensure customer approvals, and support reporting on new varieties.
  • Produce insights based on the global variety database to inform strategic decision-making.
  • Establish dashboards and data analysis outputs to facilitate global information exchange.
  • Facilitate the commercialization of new potato varieties and serve as an expert in potato variety and agronomy to Regional Agriculture teams and other McCain functions.
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science in Agriculture.
  • Must have P.Ag and experience in potato crop production + 5 years experience.
  • Nice to have: Credential in Leadership, and Business Management, Certified Crop Advisor.
  • Extensive experience with relationship management, crop trials, potato processing, seed production and supply, variety protection globally, and track record of implementing solutions to established timelines.
  • Strong network and relationships with key institutes.
