Special Education Technician

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Special Education Technician to join our team at the Commission scolaire Central Québec / Central Québec School Board. As a key member of our educational team, you will play a vital role in supporting students with special needs to achieve their full potential.
Key Responsibilities- Collaborative Support: Work closely with our teaching team, families, and external resources to provide targeted support for students with special needs, ensuring a comprehensive and inclusive learning environment.
- Customized Learning Strategies: Innovate and design customized learning strategies to meet the unique needs of each student, promoting academic success and personal growth.
- Personalized Intervention Plans: Contribute to the creation, development, and implementation of personalized intervention plans, working collaboratively with our multidisciplinary team.
- Progress Monitoring: Regularly monitor student progress, providing feedback and support to ensure students stay on track and reach their goals.
- Activity Development: Develop, organize, and lead diversified activities to reinforce various student competencies, promoting a stimulating and engaging learning environment.
- Academic Support: Provide direct academic support, particularly in basic skills, lessons, and homework, to ensure students receive the support they need to succeed.
- Behavioral Support: Adopt a proactive approach to supporting students in their adaptation and behavioral management, using optimal and adapted communication techniques.
- Resource Referral: Provide information on social issues and refer students and their families to specialized resources, as needed, to ensure comprehensive support.
- Student Supervision: Manage the supervision of students requiring specific follow-up after sanctions and organize their school reintegration, ensuring a safe and supportive environment.
- Documentation and Reporting: Rigorously document observations and interventions, keep student files up to date, and prepare detailed reports, maintaining accurate and comprehensive records.
- Medication Administration: Manage the administration of medication according to medical and school guidelines, and intervene in first aid, if necessary, to ensure student safety.
- Team Support: Guide and train new team members and supervise support staff tasks related to technical operations, promoting a collaborative and supportive team environment.
- Additional Tasks: Carry out any additional tasks adapted to emerging needs, ensuring flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic educational environment.
- Education: Hold a college diploma in Special Education Techniques or a diploma/certificate recognized as equivalent.
- Language: Be fluent in written and oral English. Knowledge of French would be an asset.
- Experience: Have experience working with students with behavioral and academic difficulties.
- Certifications: Hold a valid first-aid certificate.
