Astellas Pharma Canada is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to fill the role of Therapeutic Area Head, Oncology. This position will be responsible for providing strategic leadership and direction to the Medical Affairs team in the Oncology therapeutic area.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement a comprehensive Medical Affairs strategy for the Oncology therapeutic area, aligned with the company's overall business objectives.
- Provide medical and scientific expertise to support the development and launch of new products, as well as the commercial success of existing products in the Oncology therapeutic area.
- Lead and coordinate training programs for APCA personnel on medical and scientific information related to Astellas products within the Oncology therapeutic area.
- Establish and maintain collaborative partnerships with stakeholders, key external experts, and allied health professionals to ensure medical and scientific understanding and advocacy around Astellas medicines.
- Embed a culture of compliance and ethics across all regions of the business, ensuring that Medical Affairs activities are conducted in accordance with Astellas policies and regulatory requirements.
- Graduate degree in life sciences (Ph.D., Pharm.D., or M.D.).
- Minimum 7 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, with a focus on Medical Affairs, clinical research, or project management.
- Strong knowledge of healthcare environment, biostatistical, and health economics and outcomes research principles.
- Proven leadership ability, excellent interpersonal, communication, presentation, and administrative skills.
- Knowledge of local and international regulations, Innovative Medicines Code of Ethical Practices, and Good Clinical Practices (GCP).
- Strong analytic and problem-solving skills, effective communication skills based on balanced listening and evidence-based persuasion.
- Able to manage local, national, and international travel, with up to 30% overnight travel.
- Assigned therapeutic area(s) experience.
- Bilingual (English/French).
