We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Policy Manager to join our team at the Government of Nova Scotia. As a key member of our Public Safety and Security Division, you will play a critical role in developing and coordinating corporate security policies that support the safety and security of Nova Scotians.
Key Responsibilities- Policy Development: Lead the development of effective and comprehensive cabinet submissions, policies, and policy projects, ensuring that relevant impacts and implications are considered.
- Policy Coordination: Coordinate with multiple programs and operational divisions to provide expert and strategic policy advice that addresses complex and multi-faceted issues.
- Leadership and Mentoring: Mentor, coach, and monitor team members to ensure alignment with and the achievement of departmental short- and long-term priorities.
- Relationship Building: Develop and maintain strong working relationships with senior leaders and various working committees to drive strategy and innovation within the policy development process.
- Cultural Competence: Demonstrate cultural competence and a sound understanding of issues of equity and anti-racism as it relates to the policy development process.
- Education: Bachelor's or master's degree in a related field.
- Experience: Several years of experience in policy analysis, law, and leadership.
- Skills: Exceptional leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to understand differing needs and perspectives and navigate and negotiate within challenging conversations.
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion, and the ability to apply an anti-racist, equity lens to the policy development process.
