About the Opportunity

Squamish Nation is seeking a highly skilled Senior Human Resources Manager to join its Chén̓chenstway Human Resources Department. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the HR department, including HR management, case management, and program implementation. You will also develop strategies to advance the department's objectives, set goals, create action plans, and assess outcomes for continuous improvement.

The ideal candidate will possess a deep respect and understanding of Indigenous values and traditions, with the ability to integrate these into HR processes and team interactions. You will be a strategic thinker, able to lead and support change initiatives, and possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Responsibilities
  • Oversee the daily operations of the HR department
  • Develop and implement HR strategies to advance departmental objectives
  • Manage HR case files and program implementation
  • Develop and maintain HR policies and procedures
  • Provide HR advice and guidance to managers and employees
  • Conduct investigations and provide recommendations to management
  • Manage employee relations, performance management, and onboarding processes

Requirements

  • Combination of education and experience in HR
  • Demonstrated respect and understanding of Indigenous values and traditions
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to lead and support change initiatives
  • Experience working with Indigenous communities
