About the Opportunity:

Alberta Health Services is seeking a skilled Speech Language Pathologist to join our team at the University of Alberta Hospital. As a leading clinical, research, and teaching hospital, we provide a wide range of diagnostic and treatment services to patients from western and northern Canada.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide clinical professional practice independently and as part of a collaborative team, including external partners.
  • Responsible for prevention, health promotion, identification, assessment, intervention, and case management.
  • Participate in the planning, coordination, and delivery of rehabilitation services in collaboration with patients/clients, families, healthcare professionals, and other partners.
  • Supervise students and provide clinical guidance to other staff as appropriate.
  • Inform ongoing quality improvement, service integration, and program development with clinical expertise.

Required Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology.
  • Active or eligible registration and practice permit with the Alberta College of Speech Language Pathologists and Audiologists (ACSLPA).

Additional Required Qualifications:

  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS-HCP) certification.
  • Recent adult inpatient acute care experience within Alberta.
  • Independent and proficient with clinical and instrumental (VFSS) swallowing assessments.
  • Ability to manage challenging caseload demands within a fast-paced environment.
  • Comfort discussing risks and benefits of oral vs non-oral feeding with care team.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with complex medical patient populations (end of life, chronic disease management, post ICU, dementia).
  • Instrumental assessment (VFSS) competence.
