**Job Overview**

Volkswagen Group Canada Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Manager, Technical Accounting and Reporting to join our team at our Corporate Offices in Ajax, ON. This is a 12+ month contract role that offers a unique opportunity for personal and professional growth.

About the Role:

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the financial accounting and reporting functions within the VGCA Accounting Shared Services. They will ensure the integrity, accuracy, and timeliness of financial statements prepared in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS). The incumbent will also lead the team by coaching, guiding, and measuring team members towards established objectives.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical accounting guidance to ensure compliance with IFRS and the VW Accounting Handbook.
  • Oversee and review local financial statements of designated companies, including disclosure notes preparation.
  • Lead and develop a team of 5-8 direct reports through active coaching and measuring individuals against role metrics and specific performance objectives.
  • Coordinate monthly and year-end timetables with the team and other relevant parties.
  • Manage the monthly close process, including manual journal entry review and approval.
  • Oversee financial analysis and support external auditors during annual audits and interim reviews.
  • Develop and maintain robust internal controls over financial reporting (ICFR).
  • BUILD and maintain good working relationships with VWAG Group Accounting.
  • Liaise with Tax and external consultants on tax matters.
  • Maintain and propose performance metrics and KPIs.
  • Lead and/or assist with ad-hoc projects and prepare financial presentations.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Commerce, Major in Accounting or Finance, CPA or CA Designation is a must.
  • 5+ years of relevant work experience.
  • 2+ years of supervisory experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of functional accounting methods and application of IFRS.
  • CUSTOMER FOCUSED – identifies and demonstrates sensitivity to and understanding of customer needs.
  • Highly advanced knowledge of MS Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent communication skills – written, oral, and presentation.
  • Analytical skills – ability to dissect complex accounting and financial processes.
  • Able to respond quickly to changing environments.
