Baker Tilly Canada Cooperative is an independent member of Baker Tilly Canada. With multiple offices across the country, we are one of the largest associations of Chartered Professional Accounting firms. We are a seven-partner, locally owned firm with offices in Carleton Place, Cobden, Kemptville, Morrisburg, Pembroke, and Winchester. Our team of over 70 staff members serves companies at various stages of their development, from emerging and owner-managed businesses to large private companies, not-for-profit organizations, professionals, and individuals.
Your primary responsibilities as a Taxation Expert will include:
- Executing and completing complex tax returns
- Reviewing a wide range of personal tax returns and simple corporate tax returns
- Managing tax activities in connection with non-tax (i.e., accounting/audit) files
- Collaborating with Tax Partners and other senior tax staff to develop and implement tax planning services, including research of tax issues and preparation of memoranda, and performing special tax engagements
- Working with peers and senior management on file planning and completion within time constraints
- Preparing and presenting technical sessions to firm staff
- Providing personal, attentive service to clients to encourage productive working relationships and identify client service opportunities
A successful candidate will have:
- Successful completion of the Common Final Evaluation (CFE), at a minimum holding a status of CPA-in-waiting
- Intention to enroll and complete the CPA Canada In-Depth Tax Course and/or Master of Taxation Course
- 3 – 5 years of accounting experience, tax experience considered an asset
- High proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams), Caseware/Caseview, TaxPrep, and tax research software
- Excellent attention to detail, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication, project management and organizational skills
- Strong analytical skills and creativity to identify problems and potential solutions
- Professional manner, strong work ethic, and ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Ability to provide value-added service to clients and a strong understanding of a client-focused fast-paced work environment, including related deadlines
- A passion for tax work
The estimated salary for this position is $80,000 - $120,000 per year, depending on experience. We offer a competitive compensation package, including wellness and fitness incentives, flex time, and a comprehensive benefits program.
