Lead Hazardous Materials Technologist

At Pinchin, we are seeking a highly skilled Hazardous Materials Technologist to join our team in Tilbury. This is a challenging opportunity for an experienced professional to leverage their expertise in environmental and health and safety legislation.
The successful candidate will have a strong background in conducting worker exposure and workplace monitoring, safety inspections and audits. They will also be responsible for assisting in the development of hygiene, health and safety documentation, preparing technical reports and liaising with clients to ensure their needs and goals are met.
We estimate that the salary range for this role will be approximately $90,000 to $110,000 per year, based on factors such as the candidate's level of experience and qualifications.
About the Job- Conduct site investigations – asbestos, mould, mercury, PCBs, lead etc.
- Collect and interpret various building material samples
- Conduct field work, including visits to sites and supervise remediation activities
- Coordinate and supervise sub-contractors
- Interpret and analyze sample results in relation to legislative requirements and industry-accepted guidelines
- Prepare detailed reports documenting findings and providing recommendations to address hazardous building material concerns
- Inspect abatement contractors undertaking mould, asbestos and other hazardous materials remediation work to document that the work has been properly completed
- Collect and analyze Phase Contract Microscope (PCM) asbestos air samples
- Business development to existing clients
- College diploma in Environmental, Construction or Architectural Technology, or Bachelor of Science or Applied Science in Engineering or equivalent
- Familiarity with building systems (structure, envelope, HVAC, electrical, plumbing etc.)
- Knowledge of environmental and health and safety legislation/guidelines
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook)
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills
- Self-directed and mature
- Excellent organizational skills
- High attention to detail
- Must be able to read technical specifications, drawings and reports
- Valid driver's license, insurance and a personal vehicle required
