Project Technologist Job Description

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Project Technologist to join our Hazardous Materials team in our Tilbury office. As a Project Technologist, you will be responsible for conducting effective worker exposure and workplace monitoring, safety inspections, and audits.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct site investigations for asbestos, mould, mercury, PCBs, and lead.
  • Collect and interpret various building material samples.
  • Conduct field work, including visits to sites and supervise remediation activities.
  • Coordinate and supervise sub-contractors.
  • Interpret and analyze sample results in relation to legislative requirements and industry-accepted guidelines.
  • Prepare detailed reports documenting findings and providing recommendations to address hazardous building material concerns.
  • Inspect abatement contractors undertaking mould, asbestos, and other hazardous materials remediation work to document that the work has been properly completed.
  • Collect and analyze Phase Contract Microscope (PCM) asbestos air samples.
  • Develop and maintain positive client relationships.
  • Maintain and enhance quality control within the group.

Requirements

  • College diploma in Environmental, Construction, or Architectural Technology, or Bachelor of Science or Applied Science in Engineering or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with building systems (structure, envelope, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, etc.).
  • Knowledge of environmental and health and safety legislation/guidelines.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook).
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
  • Self-directed and mature.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Valid driver's license, insurance, and a personal vehicle required.
  • Availability to travel to clients' sites (short-term work-related travel).
  • Availability to work outside of core business hours and on occasional weekends.
