SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES **Performs the following duties**:
- Studies job orders or interprets blueprints to determine machining operations to be performed.
- Operates and sets up machines to perform turning, milling, drilling, boring, planning, honing, broaching and grinding.
- Verifies dimensions of parts machines using precision measuring instruments.
- Collects and transmits information to upper levels for decision making.
- Failure to maintain machinery could lead to serious machine damage and loss.
- Operates one or more light or heavy metalworking machines such as mills, power presses, saws, drills and a punch press.
- Operates machines or equipment which weld, solder, bolt or screw metal parts together.
- Checks products for correct shapes, dimensions and other specifications.
- May select and transport material to work area manually or using crane or hoist.
- May clean or lubricate equipment and replace parts as required.
- Collects and transmits information for upper level decision making.
- Sets up and maintains job related equipment on a limited basis.
- Position requires flexibility to perform various tasks in various departments
- Other duties as business requires
SKILLS
- Two years of post secondary education is required with a minimum of 1-2 years experience in a similar field.
- Interpersonal skills are essential to deal with a variety of limited contacts.
- Routine decision making skills will be required to work within a team atmosphere.
- Incumbent must possess a co-ordination of movement and manual skills.
EFFORT REQUIRED
- Position is significantly restricted in movement because of workstation attachment and concentration level required on job tasks.
- Job requires regular lifting and some repetitive motion.
- Costs are associated with any errors made in this position.
- Position involves regular afternoon or evening work.
- Incumbent has no on-going contact with persons outside plant.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Work will be interrupted by co-workers, management, etc.
- Position exposes individual to some health risks related to environmental condition, hazards related to physical conditions and moving machinery.
Pay: $25.00-$30.00 per hour

- 10 hour shift
- 8 hour shift

- Haas Mill/Lathe: 5 years (required)
