**FINISHING TEAM LEAD**

Under the supervision of the Production Supervisor, the Finishing Team Lead will work in a departmental capacity, acting as a support in the finishing department and responsible for efficient product finishing, working with raw wood or chemical treated components and high-grade veneers, in accordance with engineered drawings, finish specifications and special requests. The Finishing Team Lead will assist in ensuring finishing standards are achieved, or exceeded, with a focus on efficient and safe operating methods and adherence to adequate quality standards and process optimization.

**SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Possess overall knowledge of finishing practices and procedures with ability to work at all finishing Work Cells.
- Sand, trim, scrape, deburr clean or polish parts to correct defects or to prepare surfaces for further finishing, using hand tools and power tools.
- Knowledge of safe operation of hand and air tools.
- Knowledge of safe advanced operation of machinery and equipment.
- Repair/prepare surface between coats for additional finishing.
- Ability to perform touch ups and complete service parts, as necessary.
- Verify quality all work performed at all finishing steps by inspecting finish colour and quality by comparing to templates and/or measuring dimensions.
- Eliminate reworks/resprays by ensuring accuracy and quality of all parts/products.
- Document and report quality inspections including defects, errors, discrepancies, and any other non-conformities in need of remedy/repair.
- Perform in-depth maintenance and minor repairs on equipment and machinery, as needed.
- Provide and/or facilitate the orientation, training, coordination, overseeing and leading of finishing department team members.
- Provide team member Performance Support through documented Coach & Counselling Records.
- Troubleshoot problems and assist in the development of corrective solutions.
- Material management, including inventory (i.e., documentation of products or materials low or missing).
- Work in compliance with all administrative and health and safety policies and procedures, as per legislative requirements and as outlined in Company policies.
- Report process deficiencies and any administrative or health and safety policy or procedural infractions, as per legislative requirements and as outlined in Company policies, to the Production Manager for review.
- Assist in other departments as required and directed.
- Lead by example.
- Other duties as assigned.

**OTHER REQUIREMENTS**
- Ability to work in a quality, results driven and fast paced work environment.
- Ability to work in hot and humid and cold work environments.
- Physically demanding tasks (i.e., lifting, bending and standing for long periods of time, working in hot/humid conditions).
- Interaction with and/or movement of chemicals within the finishing department.
- Ability to work extended hours or weekends when required to meet production demands.
- Participate in compulsory training as deemed necessary for the role.
- CSA steel toed construction grade safety shoes in production area.
- Means of daily/reliable transportation.

**QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS**
- Minimum high school diploma or equivalent experience.
- Extensive vocational, technical wood-working, surface preparation, finishing and cabinetry training and/or experience, trade certification or education in woodworking preferred.
- Ability to understand and interpret engineering and technical drawings, as well as other written instructions and design specifications.
- Strong mathematical knowledge.
- Ability to read and take accurate measurements and finish materials to a high level of quality and precision.
- High level attention to detail.
- Ability to work under pressure, while maintaining speed and accuracy to ensure daily production requirements are met.
- Effective verbal and listening communication skills.
- Valid First Aid and CPR certification an asset.
- Valid transportation of dangerous goods certification an asset.
- Valid Joint Health and Safety Committee certification an asset.
