Position Overview
Reporting to the General/Operations Manager, the Estimator/Project Manager (EPM) will oversee all facets of project execution, including acquiring quotes from subcontractors, managing budgets, finalizing repair estimates, securing building permits, and coordinating construction timelines. The EPM will collaborate with internal technicians and external subcontractors to ensure that project restoration is carried out efficiently and promptly while upholding the integrity of estimates and Client Service Level Agreements.

Duties & Responsibilities
The following outlines the key duties and responsibilities associated with this role. The specific tasks and the time allocated to each may vary based on business needs. ServiceMaster Restore reserves the right to modify job duties and responsibilities as necessary.

  • Project Management
    • Conduct site visits to prepare comprehensive scopes and estimates for both insurance and non-insurance projects.
    • Respond promptly to emergency claims, assessing the cause of damages.
    • Research and thoroughly understand the requirements for restoration projects, executing work in accordance with the Service Level Agreement.
    • Confirm client deductibles and secure payment prior to initiating repairs.
    • Manage all project components, ensuring customer satisfaction through timely restoration processes.
    • Coordinate project activities with insured individuals, clients, subcontractors, and other consultants.
    • Oversee daily operations of project staff, construction trades, and subcontractors, implementing corrective actions to maintain project timelines and target gross margins.
    • Assist in resolving change requests, unforeseen incidents, and other issues.
    • Continuously monitor project progress and costs, providing regular updates to clients.
    • Review construction plans for compliance with applicable codes, permit issuance, and regulations.
    • Conduct periodic site inspections to ensure compliance with approved estimates.
    • Manage the permit process by reviewing applications and ensuring accuracy.
    • Prepare and maintain accurate documentation, reports, and other materials in a timely manner.
    • Track and review subcontractor quotes, estimates, changes, and payment requests.
Communication
  • Inform the Operations Manager of emergency work details for each project, including equipment, manpower, and site accessibility.
  • Establish effective communication and progress reporting processes with subcontractors and clients.
  • Proactively address all inquiries, concerns, or complaints from insured individuals/clients, resolving issues promptly.
General Responsibilities
  • Participate in scheduled production meetings.
  • Engage in 'on-call' rotations as required.
  • Keep management informed of any concerns or opportunities.
  • Attend industry events as necessary.
  • Mediate and resolve disputes and compliance issues.
  • Ensure adherence to health and safety regulations.
  • Maintain a professional demeanor in all client interactions.
  • Uphold high standards of workmanship and efficiency.

Qualifications
To succeed in this role, candidates must meet the following qualifications:

  • Characteristic and Ability Requirements
    • Ability to interpret blueprints, schematics, and field drawings.
    • Strong understanding of construction trades and techniques.

  • Educational Requirements
    • High School Diploma required.
    • Preferred: Completion of a Construction, Building Technology Diploma, or Engineering Degree.
    • Technical Diploma, Professional Engineer, C.E.T., Gold Seal Constructor, or PMP certification.
    • IICRC Certifications are an asset.
  • Work Experience Requirements
    • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in insurance restoration and/or construction estimating/project management.
  • Technical Requirements
    • Proficient in office equipment and Microsoft software (e.g., Excel, Word).
    • Familiarity with Xactimate and Xactanalysis software.

Working Conditions
This position entails a low level of physical exertion, with moderate sensory effort required. The role will involve both site and office environments, with occasional handling of tools and heavy equipment. Flexibility to work outside of normal hours may be necessary to address emergencies.
