Construction Estimator and Project Coordinator

Position Overview
Reporting to the General/Operations Manager, the Estimator/Project Manager (EPM) is tasked with overseeing all facets of the project lifecycle. This includes acquiring quotes from subcontractors, managing budgets, preparing final repair estimates, securing building permits, and developing construction timelines while addressing emergency situations as they arise.

Key Responsibilities
The EPM will collaborate with both in-house technicians and external subcontractors to ensure that project restoration is carried out efficiently and within the parameters of the estimate and Client Service Level Agreements. The following duties are essential to this role:

  • Project Management
    • Conduct site visits to prepare comprehensive scopes and estimates for both insurance and non-insurance projects.
    • Respond promptly to emergency claims, assessing the cause of damages.
    • Research and understand restoration project requirements, executing work in accordance with Service Level Agreements.
    • Confirm client deductibles and secure payments before commencing repairs.
    • Oversee all project components, ensuring customer satisfaction through timely restoration processes.
    • Coordinate project activities with insured individuals, clients, subcontractors, and other consultants.
    • Manage daily operations of project staff, construction trades, and subcontractors, implementing corrective actions to maintain timelines and profit margins.
    • Assist in resolving change requests and unforeseen incidents.
    • Continuously monitor job progress and costs, providing regular updates to clients.
    • Review construction plans for compliance with applicable codes and regulations.
    • Conduct periodic site inspections to ensure adherence to approved estimates.
    • Facilitate the permit process by reviewing applications for accuracy.
    • Maintain accurate documentation and reporting.
    • Track and evaluate subcontractor quotes and payment requests.
  • Communication
    • Inform the Operations Manager of emergency work requirements, detailing equipment, manpower, and site accessibility.
    • Establish effective communication and progress reporting with subcontractors and clients.
    • Address all client inquiries and concerns proactively, resolving issues promptly.
  • General Duties
    • Participate in scheduled production meetings.
    • Engage in 'on-call' rotations as needed.
    • Keep management informed of any concerns or opportunities.
    • Attend industry events as required.
    • Mediate disputes and ensure compliance with codes.
    • Adhere to health and safety regulations.
    • Maintain professionalism in all client interactions.
    • Ensure high standards of workmanship and efficiency.
    • Foster positive relationships with clients.
    • Deliver exceptional service that exceeds client expectations.
    • Conduct all work in line with company safety policies.
    • Comply with all workplace policies.
    • Engage in ongoing training and certification as required.
    • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications
To succeed in this role, candidates must meet the following qualifications:

  • Skills and Abilities
    • Ability to interpret blueprints and schematics.
    • Strong understanding of construction trades and techniques.

    • Proven success in project delivery and management methodologies.

    • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships.
  • Education
    • High School Diploma required.
    • Preferred: Completion of a Construction or Engineering degree, or relevant certifications.
  • Experience
    • Minimum of three years in insurance restoration or construction project management.

This position requires a moderate level of physical exertion and may involve working in various environments, including site and office settings. Flexibility in hours may be necessary to address emergencies.
