Systems Engineer III

Sierra Space is seeking a highly skilled Systems Engineer III to join our Orbital Mission Systems team. As a key member of our Ground Integrated Product Team (IPT), you will be responsible for designing, integrating, and testing a secure ground network for a novel space platform.
Key Responsibilities:- Analyze customer capability and performance needs to define ground network and related mission solutions.
- Develop ground network requirements, define interfaces, conduct technical trades, and prepare CONOPS.
- Develop integration and test plans for ground network systems and participate in V&V activities and demonstrations.
- Work with ground software teams to develop CI/CD pipelines for ground infrastructure and application deployment.
- Bachelor's of Science degree in System Engineering or related discipline and typically 6 or more years of relevant experience.
- Practical knowledge of engineering principles and practices.
- Experience working in multi-disciplinary design and development teams.
- Knowledge of requirements management, functional requirements parsing, derivation, and allocation; systems design, systems integration, technical risk identification and management strategies, and Verification and Validation (V&V) principles.
- Master's degree or higher in related field of study.
- Ability to create and implement automated CI/CD pipeline-based DevSecOps systems.
- Experience deploying and debugging cloud infrastructures.
- Familiarity with the Risk Management Framework and US Government cybersecurity requirements for ground system architectures and software development.
- Experience with Requirements Management and Model Based Systems Engineering tools, such as DOORS, CAMEO EA, Rhapsody, Matlab, and SysML.
- Experience with Agile development methods, processes, and tools (JIRA, Confluence, etc).
- Knowledge of Python, Java, Ruby, Bash, C++, C#, or Go programming languages.
- Experience with SW unit and/or automated testing.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to conduct project reviews and develop technical documentation.
- Great attitude with the ability to collaborate effectively on multidisciplinary teams to solve hard problems in a rapid development environment.
- Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry.
- An active Secret U.S. Security Clearance preferred.
- Frequently walk, sit, stand, climb stairs and steps.
- Frequently repeat same hand, arm, and finger motion many times to include finger and hand dexterity.
- Rarely lifting or carrying up to 20 lbs.
- Rarely exposed to outdoor elements (high/low temperatures, sun, rain/snow, etc.).
- Rarely exposed to fumes or hazardous chemicals/materials.
- Rarely exposed to loud noises.
Sierra Space offers a competitive salary range of $104,827.91 - $157,241.88 and a generous benefit package, including medical, dental, and vision plans, 401(k) with 150% match up to 8%, life insurance, 3 weeks paid time off, tuition reimbursement, and more.
