Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Structural Engineer III to join our team at Seaspan. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for coordinating and executing engineering tasks within allocated systems design in compliance with schedule and budget specifications.

Key Responsibilities
  1. System Design and Integration: Execute allocated systems design in compliance with schedule and budget specifications, ensuring full and functional integration of the systems into the ship and validating the systems' spatial integration into the model with all system data current and accurate.
  2. Structural Analysis and Review: Conduct structural analysis using first principal calculations and finite element methodology, and conduct structural review, perform design drawings and approve (Seal) final drawing reports and applicable documentations.
  3. Supplier Coordination and Supply Chain Management: Coordinate with suppliers and supply chain to receive, approve and integrate technical and commercial information to support detail design and supply chain and adhere to the overall schedule.
  4. Quality Assurance and Compliance: Ensure quality of design products and compliance to specifications, and follow discipline-specific standards.
  5. Team Collaboration and Communication: Work effectively across a multi-disciplined team and assess their inputs, and provide technical guidance on testing, evaluating and improving engineering outcomes.
Requirements
  1. Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in a relevant Engineering or Naval Architecture discipline, with 5+ years of post-secondary progressively senior experience in Engineering, preferably with knowledge of ship/maritime systems.
  2. Professional Certifications and Designations: Professional Engineer or Incorporated Engineer designation recognized by EGBC.
  3. Technical Skills: Knowledge of MRP, purchasing and management systems, and understanding of CADMATIC, ShipConstructor, AutoCAD and Finite Element software (FEMAP), document control systems and databases.
  4. Soft Skills: Analytical skills to gather and analyze/synthesize data, technical writing skills, organizational and interpersonal skills, and ability to work without supervision.
