Position Overview:

The Food Services General Assistant plays a crucial role in the daily operations of the food service department. Reporting directly to the Food Services Supervisor, this position involves serving meals to patients, distributing food and supplies to various units, and assisting in the preparation and portioning of food items according to established guidelines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver meals to patients and ensure timely service.
  • Manage the distribution of food and par-stock items across units.
  • Assist in the basic preparation and portioning of food as outlined in duty lists.
  • Replenish stock and maintain inventory levels.
  • Prepare, deliver, and set up food and supplies for catering events.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization within the department.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members to ensure efficient service delivery.

Work Schedule:

This position requires flexibility, with shifts ranging from 3.0 to 11.25 hours, including days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays. The food service operates 24 hours a day, necessitating adaptable scheduling.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. is mandatory.
  • Recent experience or training in a food service environment is essential.
  • Completion of a Food Handlers Course is required (or a commitment to complete within one year of hire).
  • WHMIS certification is necessary (or a commitment to complete within six months of hire).
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team setting.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Excellent customer service skills are required.
  • Proficiency in additional languages is considered an asset.
