Logistics Coordinator – Healthcare Supply Chain

Position Summary

The role involves overseeing the receipt of goods, inspection, verification, storage, control, and distribution of all supplies and equipment sourced from various channels (stock, non-stock, Stockless, SPD) to departments throughout the organization. Responsibilities also include maintaining the carousel and supply carts, ensuring proper labeling, and keeping product and supply areas organized and clean.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the distribution and reordering of supplies and equipment to end-user departments, including receiving shipments from suppliers and inventory providers.
  • Inspect carousel and carts for outdated medical and surgical supplies, replacing them as necessary.
  • Maintain cleanliness and order in carousel and supply rooms, ensuring products are specific to their designated locations.
  • Conduct daily audits of delivered items to ensure accuracy in ordering and receipts.
  • Analyze Business Intelligence reports to assist management in optimizing inventory levels.
  • Support management in reorganizing supply carts and storage areas following Lean Six Sigma principles.
  • Field inquiries regarding product availability and provide resolutions.
  • Collaborate with customers and management to enhance operational efficiencies.
  • Effectively operate inventory management systems to accurately issue, credit, pick, and distribute supplies.
  • Monitor LogiD boards for functionality and report any discrepancies.
  • Adhere to hospital protocols, including timely responses to codes and compliance with WHMIS standards.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in logistics within a computerized inventory environment.
  • Experience in a healthcare setting is preferred.
  • Strong communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and customer service abilities.
  • Proficient problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Familiarity with inventory management systems and related software.
  • Good physical health, capable of handling heavy items regularly.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team with minimal supervision.
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality regarding patients and staff.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and evenings.

Education

  • High School Diploma.
  • Completion of a Lift Truck (forklift) training course that meets CSA and Ontario Ministry of Labour standards.
  • Additional training in Inventory Control, Logistics, or Supply Chain Management is advantageous.
  • Logistics/Material Management certification (CPIM) is a plus.
