Job Description

The Labour Relations Advisor will be responsible for managing labour relations activities, including negotiation, interpretation, and application of collective agreements. The incumbent will represent the employer in discussions and on committees with union representatives, and contribute to maintaining a harmonious working environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide advisory support and act as spokesperson in the negotiation of collective agreements, letters of understanding, and other negotiated agreements.
  • Offer opinions on the application of collective agreements, employment terminations, disciplinary measures, and other labour-related matters.
  • Update and maintain absenteeism files, perform legislative research, and participate in labour relations committees.
  • Facilitate and structure grievance meetings, advise managers on labour relations and related laws, and represent the employer before administrative tribunals.
  • Prepare various files, including grievances, disciplinary meetings, arbitrations, and collective agreement negotiations.
  • Collaborate with the company's legal representatives in conciliation, mediation, and arbitration hearings, as well as Human Rights and Canada Labour Code complaints.
Qualifications
  • University diploma in Labour Relations or equivalent.
  • A minimum of 6-8 years of experience as a Labour Relations Advisor or similar title.
  • Oral and written fluency in French and English.
  • Knowledge of the Canada Labour Code (an asset).
  • Leadership, proactive, client-oriented, and strong communication skills.
  • Team spirit and creative.

A good knowledge of French is required for positions in Quebec. The incumbent will be required to communicate and collaborate frequently in English, both orally and in writing, with colleagues, customers, and other stakeholders in Quebec, the rest of Canada, and internationally.
