Emergency Care Nurse

Halton Healthcare is seeking a dedicated Emergency Care Nurse to join our dynamic team in the Emergency Department. Our facility is committed to providing exceptional healthcare services to the communities we serve, including Halton and Halton Hills.
Our Emergency Department is a well-equipped 15-bed unit featuring a specialized Rapid Assessment Fast Track (RAFT) area, catering to patients of all ages with a wide range of medical and mental health conditions. Last year, we proudly managed over 39,000 patient visits, demonstrating our commitment to quality care.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality nursing care in a fast-paced environment.
- Conduct thorough assessments and triage patients effectively.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including physicians and physician assistants, to ensure comprehensive patient care.
- Utilize mental health and internal medicine resources for timely patient evaluations and referrals.
Qualifications
- Active registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
- Current BLS Provider Card approved by Heart & Stroke upon hire.
- Previous experience in an Emergency Department is essential.
- Experience in triage and supervisory roles is required.
- ACLS certification must be obtained at the time of hire and maintained thereafter.
- Completion of an on-site sponsored course is required within the first year of employment.
- Certification in Canadian Emergency Nursing would be advantageous.
- Completion of post-diploma Emergency courses such as TNCC, ENPC, and PALS is a plus.
- Basic skills in ECG interpretation and application are preferred.
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the nursing role.
- Demonstrated satisfactory employment and attendance record.
Work Schedule
This position requires flexibility with various rotating 12-hour shifts, including weekdays and weekends, to meet operational needs.
