Halton Healthcare is seeking a dedicated Emergency Care Nurse to join our dynamic team within the Emergency Department. Our facility caters to a diverse population, providing critical care to patients across all age groups and addressing a wide range of medical and psychological conditions.
Our Emergency Department features a 15-bed unit, complemented by a specialized Rapid Assessment Fast Track (RAFT) area. Last year, we managed over 39,000 patient visits, showcasing our commitment to delivering high-quality healthcare.
Team Composition
Our multidisciplinary team operates around the clock, including skilled nurses, physicians, physician assistants, and various healthcare professionals. We pride ourselves on having dedicated resources for mental health and internal medicine, ensuring thorough evaluations and timely referrals for patient admissions.
Qualifications
- Valid registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
- Current BLS Provider Card from an approved Heart & Stroke program upon hire.
- Previous experience in an Emergency Department setting is essential.
- Proficiency in triage and leadership responsibilities is required.
- ACLS certification must be obtained at the time of hire and maintained thereafter.
- Completion of an on-site sponsored course is mandatory within one year of employment.
- Successful completion of the Canadian Emergency Nursing Certification Exam is an asset.
- Post-diploma Emergency courses such as TNCC, ENPC, and PALS are advantageous.
- Basic skills in ECG interpretation and 12-lead ECG application are preferred.
- Candidates must be capable of meeting the physical demands of the role.
- A satisfactory record of employment and attendance is required.
Work Schedule
This position involves various rotating 12-hour shifts, with hours subject to change based on operational requirements.
