The Strategic Planning and Initiatives (SPI) department is essential in delivering pivotal services to the University, focusing on advanced data analytics, financial insights, business intelligence, strategic and operational planning, and effective project management.
Key Responsibilities:
Reporting directly to the Director of Strategic Planning and Initiatives, the selected candidate will assist in various core service areas of the department. The ideal applicant will possess a strong passion for higher education and excel in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with multiple priorities.
Analytics and Business Intelligence:
- Conduct comprehensive literature reviews, environmental assessments, benchmarking studies, and explore trends and best practices in higher education, presenting findings effectively.
- Develop and refine resources and tools, including templates and infographics.
- Prepare and deliver data reports and packages for academic program evaluations and quality assurance.
- Aid in the design, administration, and analysis of surveys initiated by the SPI department.
- Support data verification processes to ensure accuracy and resolve inconsistencies.
- Assist in the collection, qualitative analysis, and reporting of data pertinent to strategic initiatives and projects.
Planning, Reporting, and Project Management:
- Provide general administrative support, including supply ordering, meeting scheduling, and upkeep of departmental webpages.
- Manage user accounts and licenses for the department's business intelligence software.
- Facilitate focus groups and workshops related to strategic initiatives and projects.
- Organize and coordinate external reviewer site visits for program evaluations.
- Offer administrative assistance to committees and working groups as required.
- Maintain project management tools to track tasks, issues, deliverables, and timelines.
- Draft progress reports, project charters, and briefing notes as necessary.
- Assist in documenting and reviewing business processes.
Required Qualifications:
- A Bachelor's degree in a research-intensive discipline such as Social Sciences, Economics, or Statistics, with a minimum of three years of recent experience in research and data analytics. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
- Familiarity with the post-secondary education sector and a working knowledge of academic planning and quality assurance processes.
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 for business and project management tools.
- Strong attention to detail, versatility, and flexibility to manage complex and shifting work assignments.
- Excellent written, oral, and visual communication skills, capable of conveying complex concepts clearly to diverse audiences.
- Proven ability to support change management strategies aligned with organizational objectives.
- Experience in project support, strategic planning, and collaboration with leaders at various levels.
- Competence in conducting environmental scans and creating relevant documentation and tools.
- Knowledge of survey research methodologies, including questionnaire design and statistical analysis.
- Experience in managing software licenses.
- Skills in qualitative data analysis and utilizing tools for reporting and data visualization.
- Familiarity with literature reviews and reference management software.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a cross-functional team.
- Understanding and application of policies and procedures.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification in Change Management.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) designation.
- Certified Business Process Professional (CBPP) designation.
- Experience in a similarly sized and unionized post-secondary institution.
