Patent Agent Opportunity at Marks & Clerk

At Marks & Clerk, we're seeking an experienced Patent Agent to join our Ottawa team. As a key member of our team, you'll play a crucial role in helping clients protect their intellectual property and shape the future of innovation.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Identify and protect patentable inventions for clients.
  • Advise clients on IP protection strategies and prepare patent applications.
  • Conduct IP audits and due diligence for investors and businesses.
  • Arrange validity and infringement reviews, as well as patent watch services.
  • Prosecute patent applications through to grant.
  • Draft arguments to advocate clients' positions in patent cases.
Requirements:
  • Qualified Canadian Patent Agent with at least two years' post-qualification experience.
  • Recognized degree in science, chemistry, biochemistry, or biology.
  • Proven technical expertise in patent drafting, filing, and prosecution.
  • Demonstrable technical excellence and ability to assume responsibility for client relationships.
  • Excellent time and portfolio management skills.
