Osler's Intellectual Property group is seeking a mid-level Patent Agent with a background in life sciences, software, or computer-related subject matter to join our Ottawa office.

The successful candidate will be responsible for drafting and prosecuting patent applications, primarily in relation to pharmaceutical, biochemical, or software/computer-related technologies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drafting and prosecuting patent applications in the relevant technical area
  • Managing client relationships and coordinating worldwide prosecution of patent portfolios
  • Providing exceptional customer service and working well in a fast-paced environment
  • Staying up-to-date with recent Canadian Patent Law changes and Canadian patent practice

Requirements:

  • Registered Canadian Patent Agent in good standing with the College of Patent Agents & Trademark Agents (CPATA)
  • Three or more years of relevant work experience drafting patent applications in the relevant technical area
  • Advanced degree (M.Sc., preferably Ph.D.) in life sciences, with chemistry preferred, or electrical engineering, computer sciences, or software engineering
