Position Purpose:

The role involves supervising a designated shift of incinerator operations to ensure that productivity targets are met while adhering to all relevant safety, health, and environmental regulations, as well as Stericycle's policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise all Operators and Plant Workers during the assigned shift, including Custodian activities.
  • Ensure that all personnel perform their duties safely, employing proper techniques and utilizing personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
  • Assist in training and developing shift personnel in their job responsibilities.
  • Establish, communicate, and drive performance goals for the shift.
  • Provide feedback on shift and individual performance to the relevant manager.
  • Monitor operations and team metrics to recommend changes in processing methods and personnel utilization to enhance production efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety, health, and environmental regulations, and communicate any issues or recommendations to the Operations Manager.
  • Take proactive measures to resolve identified hazards or unsafe practices.
  • Report maintenance issues through the work order system to ensure timely resolution.
  • Engage with team members to achieve business objectives.
  • Conduct periodic facility audits and review applicable regulatory documentation.
  • Ensure proper waste feed rate and blending in the incinerator to maintain optimal temperatures and maximize throughput.
  • Monitor incinerator and steam system parameters, including temperatures, pH levels, and flow rates, to ensure safe and efficient operations.
  • Complete all necessary logging and reporting documents accurately and in accordance with procedures.
  • Lead pre-shift and changeover meetings to communicate important performance information and potential issues.
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • 3+ years of relevant experience in a plant or manufacturing environment, demonstrating strong communication skills.
  • At least one year of experience supervising others.
  • Proficient in computer skills.
  • Familiarity with Hazardous Materials and OSHA Regulations.
  • Ability to operate powered industrial trucks, such as forklifts.
  • Understanding of the roles and responsibilities of Plant Workers and Incinerator Operators.
  • Knowledge of roll-off truck processes is preferred.
  • Current valid Driver's License is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Experience with Human Machine Interface (HMI) systems.
  • Knowledge of EPA and Environmental Compliance.
  • Experience in writing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
