Position Overview:

The Plant Shift Supervisor II is responsible for overseeing a designated incinerator operations shift, ensuring that productivity targets are met while adhering to all relevant safety, health, and environmental regulations, as well as Stericycle's policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise all Operators and Plant Workers during the assigned shift, including Custodian activities.
  • Ensure that all personnel perform their duties safely, employing proper techniques and utilizing personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
  • Assist in training and developing shift personnel in their job functions.
  • Establish, communicate, and drive performance goals for the shift.
  • Provide feedback on shift and individual performance to the appropriate management.
  • Monitor operations and team metrics to recommend necessary adjustments in processing methods, operational procedures, and personnel allocation to optimize production efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with Safety, Health, and Environmental regulations, reporting any issues or concerns to the Operations Manager.
  • Initiate actions to resolve identified hazards or unsafe practices promptly.
  • Report maintenance issues through the work order system to ensure timely resolution.
  • Engage proactively with team members to achieve business objectives.
  • Conduct periodic facility audits and review all applicable regulatory documentation.
  • Ensure proper incinerator waste feed rates and blending to maintain optimal temperatures and maximize throughput.
  • Monitor incinerator and steam system parameters, ensuring safe and efficient operations, and report any identified issues to management.
  • Complete all necessary logging and reporting documents accurately and file them according to established procedures.
  • Lead pre-shift and changeover meetings, sharing critical information regarding performance and potential issues.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and capability to perform all other roles and responsibilities at the facility.
  • Carry out additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • 3+ years of relevant experience or training in a plant or manufacturing environment, showcasing strong communication skills.
  • At least one year of experience supervising others.
  • Proficient in computer skills.
  • Familiarity with Hazardous Materials and OSHA Regulations.
  • Ability to operate powered industrial trucks, such as forklifts.
  • Understanding of the roles and responsibilities of Plant Workers and Incinerator Operators for effective operational direction.
  • Knowledge of roll-off truck processes is preferred.
  • Current valid Driver's License is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Experience with Human Machine Interface (HMI) systems.
  • Knowledge of EPA and Environmental Compliance regulations.
  • Experience in writing Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) is a plus.
