About the Role

We are seeking a part-time Special Education Assistant to join our team at St. Thomas Aquinas Regional Secondary. The successful candidate will work closely with a Grade 8 student on the Autism Spectrum, implementing a Lifeskills program and providing individualized support.

Key Responsibilities
  • Implement the Individual Education Plan for students on their caseload, including functional skills, academic support, and social skills.
  • Work one-on-one with diagnosed students and in small groups in the Learning Resource Room.
  • Support supervision and extra-curricular activities.
Requirements
  • Eligibility for a current British Columbia Criminal Record Check.
  • Training and/or experience in special education, including working on a home team as a Behaviour Interventionist.
  • Background knowledge and experience working with a variety of students with special needs.
  • Knowledge of a Lifeskills program or Functional Curriculum.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
