Counter Sales Associate

Job Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and customer-focused Counter Salesperson to join our team at EMCO Corporation. As a Counter Salesperson, you will play a key role in providing exceptional customer service and support to walk-in customers at our Profit Centre counters.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide sales support to customers, answering questions and assisting with product selection and ordering.
- Maintain a clean and organized counter sales area, ensuring a positive customer experience.
- Support the Inside Sales and Outside Sales functions, providing product information and recommendations to customers.
- Assist customers with purchases, including processing orders and handling returns and warranty claims.
- Inform the buyer when stock levels are low, ensuring timely restocking and minimizing stockouts.
- Follow up on backorders with vendors, providing customers with accurate delivery dates.
- Process returns and warranty claims, ensuring compliance with all procedures.
- Navigate and resolve customer concerns and complaints in a professional and courteous manner.
Requirements
- Grade 12 diploma or equivalent; college and/or university degree an asset.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in customer service or counter sales.
- Outstanding customer service and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent relationship building skills with customers, vendors, and teammates.
- Ability to learn and operate the applicable software system used to process orders.
- Experience working in a fast-paced environment.
- Intermediate math skills with a strong attention to detail.
- Ability to learn how to operate material handling equipment.
- Possess a strong work ethic and a high standard of integrity.
- Ability to work well independently and in a team setting.
Preferred Skills
- Previous experience with or knowledge of plumbing and building products sold at the Profit Centre.
- Ability to use the Internet as a resource to problem solve and find alternative solutions for customers.
- Experience using Trend, Eclipse, Word, Excel, and Outlook.
