Process Safety Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Process Safety Engineer to join our Process Safety Department. As a key member of our team, you will provide expert interpretation, analysis, and guidance in process safety and technical safety engineering. Your knowledge of process safety engineering aspects will be essential in implementing Cenovus's Operational Integrity System (COIMS).
Key Responsibilities:- Provide specialist interpretation and analysis of process safety and technical safety engineering aspects.
- Develop and implement methods and solutions to improve Process Safety performance.
- Collaborate with colleagues to integrate perspectives and optimize hazard identification and risk control solutions.
- Improve process safety awareness by sharing simple, actionable practices.
- Leverage operations knowledge to identify weak signals through data from management of change processes, control of work procedures, process upsets, and incidents.
- Offer technical expertise in barrier management to prevent unplanned and uncontrolled releases.
- Guide and lead change efforts to implement COIMS process safety standards, including regulatory requirements and external provider guidelines.
- Participate in or lead investigations of significant process safety events, offering recommendations and communicating insights through technical reports and presentations.
- Completion of a Bachelor of Science in Engineering.
- 8+ years of operational experience with demonstrated process safety, hazard identification, and risk assessment skills.
- Strong expertise in HAZOP & LOPA facilitation, consequence modeling, quantitative risk assessment, or fire protection.
- Knowledge of process safety engineering aspects and COIMS implementation.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.
