Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Power Engineer 4th Class to join our Maintenance team at Winpak LTD. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for safely and effectively repairing, installing, and maintaining production equipment, building, and grounds.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct regular inspections of refrigeration, heating, and ventilating equipment to identify defects and ensure proper operation.
  • Perform repairs, replacements, installations, adjustments, and maintenance of all types of refrigeration, heating, and ventilating equipment within the facility.
  • Coordinate with other departments, such as Mechanics, Electricians, and HVAC Mechanics, to arrange assistance and resources as required.
  • Manage Work Orders, account for inventory and labor on a CMMS system, and advise Supervisors on material and supply requirements.
  • Interpret blueprints, create sketches and calculations as needed, and receive instructions for scheduled and emergency repairs, installations, and inspections.
  • Develop tests to determine equipment efficiency and adjust for proper operating characteristics.
  • Diagnose trouble using testing equipment and own judgment based on a general knowledge of Class 4 refrigeration, heating, and ventilating principles.
  • Work during scheduled shutdowns and overtime to complete tasks, including call-ins, and report for duty within a reasonable time limit when there is a call back.
  • Promote teamwork, cooperation, and effective communication within the department and Company, and interact with all levels of the operation in support of Winpak's TQI program.
  • Perform duties and responsibilities in a manner compliant with ISO 9001 and SQF 2000 standards, and understand and adhere to all plant Food/Health and Safety Policies and GMP.
  • Monitor and adjust physical plant and HVAC systems, including calibrations and settings, and operate various types of moving equipment such as Forklifts, Genies, Floor scrubbers, and Skyjacks.
  • Perform other duties related to engineering as assigned.
Requirements
  • High school or equivalent required.
  • Minimum 2 years' experience working in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Experience in aspects of Refrigeration and Chiller units, including Water Treatment, Valves, Switches, Pumps, Pneumatic controls, HVAC, Pressure Boilers, Generators, Electronic controls, Condensers, Compressors, Alarms, and Cooling towers.
  • Aware of workplace safety regulations.
  • Comfortable with heights and smaller, confined spaces.
  • Other combinations of education, experience, knowledge, and skills will be considered.
  • Basic carpentry skills, such as painting, drywall, repairs, or modifications.
  • Ability to take instruction and work independently as well as part of a team.
