Job Summary

Halton Healthcare is seeking a highly skilled Security and Emergency Telecommunications Operator to join our team. As a key member of our security team, you will be responsible for operating a state-of-the-art healthcare security and emergency control center, receiving and relaying information to security staff, and prioritizing and assigning emergency and non-emergency service calls.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate radio, telephone, and telecommunication equipment to receive and relay information to security staff
  • Prioritize and assign emergency and non-emergency service calls to frontline security staff
  • Coordinate with Security Team Leaders in stressful situations
  • Maintain logs and records of all activity in the dispatch and mobile records management system
  • Provide information to internal healthcare staff, municipal emergency services, and other agencies as required
  • Answer emergency calls, non-emergency calls, and administrative lines, and provide security-related instructions to callers
  • Act as a front-line representative of Halton Healthcare Security and Parking, providing excellent customer service
  • Have system responsibilities of security and life safety systems used by the security program
  • Ensure Halton Healthcare security systems are being used appropriately and report non-compliance issues to the Supervisor of Security
  • Provide training to other dispatchers and security staff
  • Assist the Manager of Security and Parking and the Supervisor of Parking and Access Control with parking operations, enforcement activities, parking phone, badging, and investigations
Requirements
  • Grade 12 or equivalent
  • Post-secondary college certificate or diploma in Emergency Telecommunications, or a combination of education in a related field and experience
  • Excellent spoken English oral and written communications skills and clear speaking voice
  • Mental Health First Aid Certificate issued by a recognized provider, to be completed within 3 months of hire
  • Emergency Management Ontario IMS 100, completed within 3 months of hire
  • Experience working in an organization with advanced life safety, security, and telecommunication systems, with a centralized dispatch environment
