Security and Emergency Telecommunications Specialist

Halton Healthcare is seeking a highly skilled Security and Emergency Telecommunications Operator to join our team. As a key member of our security services provider, you will be responsible for operating a state-of-the-art healthcare security and emergency control center.
You will operate radio, telephone, and various other telecommunications equipment to receive and relay information to our security services provider's staff operating within Halton Healthcare. Your primary focus will be on prioritizing and assigning emergency and non-emergency service calls to frontline security staff and coordinating with the Security Team Leaders in stressful situations.
Maintaining logs and records of all activity as required in the dispatch and mobile records management system is also a critical aspect of this role. You will provide information to internal healthcare staff, municipal emergency services, and other agencies as needed.
As a front-line representative of Halton Healthcare Security and Parking, you will be responsible for answering emergency calls, non-emergency calls, incoming administrative lines, and giving security-related instructions to callers. Providing excellent customer service is essential in this role.
You will also have system responsibilities for security and life safety systems used by the security program. You will ensure Halton Healthcare security systems are being used appropriately and report to the Supervisor of Security all non-compliance issues with all applicable policies and protocols.
Additionally, you will provide training to other dispatchers and security service provider's staff. You will assist as needed the Manager of Security and Parking and the Supervisor of Parking and Access Control with parking operations, enforcement activities, parking phone, and badging and investigations.
Requirements
Formal Education Required:
- Grade 12 or equivalent.
- Post-Secondary college certificate or diploma in Emergency Telecommunications, or a combination of education in a related field and experience.
- Excellent spoken English oral and written communications skills and clear speaking voice.
- Mental Health First Aid Certificate issued by a recognized provider to be completed within 3 months of hire.
- Emergency Management Ontario IMS 100 completed within 3 months of hire.
Previous Relevant Experience Required:
Experience working in an organization that required the candidate to interact with advanced life safety, security, and telecommunications systems with a centralized dispatch environment.
